Christian Abimbola
(Family First Worker, Community Social Care)
I have been a Families First Worker with Warrington Borough Council, Children and Young People’s Services Department since January 2009. I currently work in the Intensive Intervention section of the Families First team, undertaking a variety of roles including supervising family time and planned intervention.
I have thus been working in the social care setting for over 10 years and have gained considerable experience in the provision of person-centered care to Service Users.
I, working with family members, have designed Individual Support/Care Plans which have and continue to meet the individual needs of service users, with their active participation from planning stage till completion, giving relevant information to make informed choice about goals and aspirations, taking into consideration their preferences and wishes.
I have continued to experience a lot in my current job with children and adults suffering from behavioural challenges stemming from dysfunctional families, abuses, deprivation, neglect and suicidal thoughts. It is such a pain to see people struggle with mental health illness, who suffer from emotional instability, confusion, memory lapse and agitation amongst many other symptoms.
I have a knack for details which ensures that necessary information is sought and included, through effective communication with potential Service Users, family and Multi-disciplinary Agencies and other service providers. I consider myself a very thorough person.
I have been able to build a good rapport and professional working relationship with Service Users with necessary boundaries in place as I can empathize with Service Users, relating professionally without discrimination or bias. I also always ensure that adequate safeguarding measures are always put in place for service users.
I see myself as a friendly person, with good interpersonal relationships. I am a team player and appreciate the importance of team dynamics in achieving smooth and effective care, using adequate communication to achieve maximum outcomes.
I have a Bachelor (1983) and Master (1986) degrees with NARIC letter affirming comparability. I was an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Ibadan and also managed a branch of the now defunct Equatorial Trust Bank, in Nigeria before I relocated to the United Kingdom.
